Difficult Conversations in the work place

A brief 1 hour workshop aimed at employers and managers to help them gain the skills and confidence to discuss workplace issues when they arise. This presentation includes:

  • Some guidelines on how to navigate a difficult conversation
  • Tips on how to prepare before the conversation
  • Strategies to manage your own feelings and emotions to achieve a positive outcome
  • Resources will be provided

For employee’s, we offer a workshop titled “effective communication” which is targeted to more general skills in having important conversations with peers and supervisors. This workshop is about 1.5 hours in length and is interactive.

Dealing with Grief & Loss

Grieving is a healthy response to loss. Yet many don’t realize how much grieving naturally occurs over the lifespan. This 2 hour workshop explores our responses to loss and explores

  • The honouring of what we have lost
  • When grief becomes “complicated”
  • Disenfranchised grief
  • Common responses to grief and loss
  • How to stay in relationship or connected with what we have lost while continuing on in our life
  • Looking after ourselves and those effected by grief and loss

Mindfulness, Self-Care & Self-Compassion

This interactive introduction to Mindfulness is offered as a 3 hour face to face presentation that explores how to incorporate mindfulness into our everyday lives through offering some practical ways to be more mindful in our day while also touching on the more formal aspects of mindfulness meditation. We also look at the benefits and importance of self-care, self-compassion and gratitude and how these practices can assist us through difficult times. Participants are encouraged to share through games and reflection throughout.

We also offer a 1-hour active mindfulness session that focuses on reflection and mindfulness activities for busy people

Building Resilience & Managing Stress

This 1 hr workshop covers:

  • The development of resilience and what supports it from an environmental perspective
  • The idea of team resilience as well as personal resilience
  • Wellbeing in the workplace
  • Stress and our brain
  • Self-care and compassion to help us with feelings of stress

Domestic and Family Violence Awareness

This educational training uses the latest research and comes from a feminist and gendered position of violence while acknowledging that anyone can be a victim/survivor of Domestic & Family Violence. The training covers the following elements:

  • What Domestic and Family Violence is
  • Recent Australian statistics about DV & FV focusing on who is most likely to be a victim/survivor of DV&FV and who is most likely to be a perpetrator of the violence and abuse.
  • Forms of violence
  • The key features about “coercive controllers vs insecure reactors”
  • The cycle of abuse and the power & control wheel
  • Myths
  • How to support someone
  • Where to find support

Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue and Burnout

This is a 2 hour presentation that covers some of the common experiences of people working in the helping professions. The areas covered include:

  • The definition and differences of Compassion Fatigue, Burn Out & Vicarious Trauma
  • Risk factors
  • Manifestations
  • Self-care
  • Vicarious growth & Satisfaction

Mental Health Awareness (Self-Care & Wellbeing)

This 1.5 – 2 hour training can be offered both face to face or via online platforms. It covers a brief overview of common mental concerns such as Depression & Anxiety. The training is interactive and invites people to share their own understandings and stories in safe ways.

  • Signs and effects of Burn Out

Dealing with Difficult & Aggressive Behaviour

This 2 hour interactive workshop covers:

  • Understanding and being mindful about what might be behind challenging behaviours
  • Identify early warning signs of aggression
  • Strategies to deal with difficult communication & difficult behaviours
  • Tips on how to de-escalate emotionally charged situations
  • Strategies on how to effectively manage yourself in a challenging situation
  • The importance of debriefing and self-care following incidents involving challenging behaviour
